- [6/4/2008] The Corinthian YC has generously offered to waive the entry fee to J/105s racing only on Friday, June 6 and Friday, August 8 -- a great opportunity for people to tune-up before the SFYC regattas! All racers must complete the entry form for liability purposes. Racers not entered in the full Friday series will not scored (these races will be "non-counters"), but the finish order will be announced after the race. Help in the bar is always appreciated... - [3/23/2008] It's time to register for the Ocean Race. The race is Saturday, March 29. Sign up Online by March 26th to avoid a $55 late fee! Please read the NOR carefully and be sure you have all the required safety equipment aboard. There will be random inspections imediately following the race and boats without the proper equipment will receive a 60% scoring penalty. Also, remember the importance of having bolt cutters and/or hacksaws with spare blades. TPI and Hall recommend hacksaws are being more useful - a bolt cutter can be hard to use and can get wrecked on the first try, and then you have no back-up unless you also have a hack-saw.
- [3/12/2008] It's time to register for our first regatta for the 2008 Championship Season. The NOR is available for the Spring One Design Regatta to be held on March 15-16. Online Registration is available for this event. Sign up by March 12th to avoid a late fee.

- [8/26/2008] 10 races, 5 bullets, two 2nds, two 3rds, and a 7th makes a North American champion. Donkey Jack's crew of Scott Sellers, Rolf Kaiser, Eric Ryan, Geoff McDonald, Cam Geer and Ted Conrads annihilated the rest of the fleet by eeking out a 23 point lead over Good Timin (Dave Wilson/Chris Perkins) with 45 points. Ever competitive Aquavit (Tim Russell) finished in third on 51 points followed by Blackhawk (Scooter Simmons). Rhymenocerous (John Horsch) survived a last minute protest to finish in 5th. The St. Francis Yacht Club and San Francisco Bay delivered a memorable 4 days and 10 tough races for all 36 J/105 competitors.

NOTE: Full Results show adjustments to exclude non-Fleet #1 boats for the season championship scoring.

- [6/9/2008] The new venue using windward gates in the SFYC J/105 Summer Invitational proved challenging for some; for others, it was the almost 4kts of current pushing boats into marks or the Sunday gusts over 30kts causing gear failures. In any event, there is rarely a dull moment in the SF J/105 Fleet racing. Good Timin' takes first place overall in the six race regatta with one throwout. Donkey Jack takes second place on redress given. Aquavit, Masquerade and Arbitrage make up the top five trophy recipients. Twenty-seven J/105s registered for the event. NOTE: The best five finishes of the six races have been scored for the season standings.

- [5/18/2008] Although Good Timin' never won a race, a consistent top four finish position in each race was good enough to take first place overall in the Stone Cup hosted by the St. Francis YC. Aquavit edged out Nantucket Sleighride by a point to take 2nd place overall. Brick House and Arbitrage make up the top five. Twenty-five J/105 boats competed in the four race regatta sailed in sun, fog and blustery winds.
- [5/9/2008] Saturday's Great Vallejo Race on May 3rd was sailed in near perfect conditions. The 11 J/105s had lots of spinnaker reaching in flat water and moderate wind. Roxanne finished 1st, covering the 21.5 NM course in 3h 11m followed by RacerX in 2nd and Donkey Jack in 3rd.
Sunday's Race on May 4th was predominantly close jib reaching in steady 20+ knots with gusts to 35 kts. Roxanne once again finished 1st covering the 14.5 NM course in 2:02 followed by Hazardous Waste in 2nd and Donkey Jack in 3rd. The first 6 boats finished within a 2 minute span. (see Schedule page for all results.)
Donkey Jack Crew wins Tenth Annual J/105 Toast Off!!
This year's Toast Off had the makings of a great event. Saturday's race was outstanding, the boats tied up together, each crew toasted the crew that "beat them", reportedly, 10-12 gallons of margaritas were consumed and everyone was happy. But there was only one winner and that was the Donkey Jack Crew who sang a version of "1-2-3-4-5 I Caught a Fish (RacerX) Alive". Finishing 2nd was the singing of RacerX accompanied with piano. Advantage3 scooped 3rd with "3 Blind Mice".
