NOTICE OF RACE

RULES

This regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined by the Racing Rules of Sailing and the Deeds of Gift for the following trophies: St. Francis Perpetual, the City of San Francisco Perpetual, the Atlantic Perpetual, the Keefe-Kilborn Perpetual, the Richard Rheem Perpetual, and the Commodore’s Perpetual. For Handicap Divisions: The IR2000 Rules, Parts 1,2, and 3 shall apply. Yachts shall submit  a copy of their IRC endorsed certificate not later than August 31st, 2004. No alteration in a yacht’s TCC will be permitted after this date, except as a rating protest, or to correct Rating Office errors. For One-Design Divisions: their respective class rules will apply, except for J/105 Fleet One Class rules, J/120 Fleet Five Class rules, and the San Francisco Beneteau First 40.7 Fleet Class rules will replace the National Association Class Rules. The St. Francis Yacht Club is the organizing authority.

 

SAFETY

The owner and skipper of each boat are responsible for the safety of the crew and the vessel.

 

PERSONAL FLOTATION

Life Jacket or other adequate personal flotation device shall be worn by all competitors while racing.

 

CLASS DIVISIONS

Entrants will be divided into two groupings as follows:

 

One Design Racing:            AC Class, Transpac 52, Santa Cruz 52, Beneteau 40.7, Farr 40, J/120, Express 37, Beneteau  36.7, One Design 35, J/105

Handicap Racing:               Yachts 35’ LOA and above will be divided into divisions at the discretion of the Organizing Authority.

 

A minimum of 6 boats per class must be entered to qualify for a one-design start.  If 6 boats per class are not entered by the entry deadline, the entered boats may be assigned to a handicap division or combined at the discretion of the Organizing Authority. To insure the best racing possible, St. Francis Yacht Club will group boats of similar ratings together most likely in the following manner: Class A – TCC 1.100 to 1.199; Class B – TCC 1.000 to 1.099; Class C – TCC .99 and below; and Class D – IRC Hull Factor 7.5 or less.

1700 – 1830 hours            Mt. Gay Cocktail Party                                                                           

Saturday, Sept 18                       

1100 hours                    Racing begins – Two Races scheduled
1630 – 1730 hours            No-Host Cocktails
1930 hours                        Crew Dinner (Sign-up at Registration)

 

Sunday, Sept 19                   

1100 hours                   Racing begins – Bay-Tour Race scheduled

1600 hours                       Trophy Ceremony

 

FEES

Entry Fee: $13 dollars per foot of overall boat length, rounded up to the nearest foot. All checks must be in US DOLLARS drawn on a US BANK and made payable to: St. Francis Yacht Club. Fees listed below expire on Wednesday, August 25th for all entries. After that date, add an additional $250 late fee. St. Francis does not charge social fees for individual events but guests must obtain a guest pass at registration in order to gain access to the Club throughout the week.

 

RACING AREA

Windward/Leeward Race Courses will be set both off the City-Front and North of the Berkeley Pier.

 

SCORING

The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A2, of the Racing Rules will apply.  Each boat's total score will be the sum of her scores for all races completed.

 

PRIZES

Trophies will be awarded based on fleet participation with a maximum of 3 trophies and a minimum of 2 trophies per fleet / division.

 

BERTHING & TRAILER STORAGE
All yachts competing in the event may be moored free of charge at pre-assigned locations beginning on Monday, Sept 8th and one night after racing concludes. If you plan on keeping a storage trailer in the City parking lot, please contact the Race Office 415-563-6363 for an overnight parking permit. All trailers will be towed without a permit.
